Deep in Colombia’s jungle, there’s a river that looks like a rainbow. But why does it flow in so many colors?

This river is called Caño Cristales, also known as ‘The River of Five Colors.’ It’s in a remote part of Colombia

Caño Cristales is often called ‘The Liquid Rainbow.’ It’s famous for its bright red, yellow, green, blue, and black colors

The colors come from a special plant called Macarenia clavigera, which grows under the water

The river only shows its colors from June to November. The water levels need to be just right

If the water flows too fast or too slow, the plants can’t grow, and the colors disappear

Because it’s so remote, Caño Cristales is free from pollution. The colors stay pure and bright.

The river is also home to many rare plants and animals that you won’t find anywhere else

Caño Cristales is protected by the government. It’s a natural treasure that must be preserved

This colorful river reminds us how beautiful and delicate nature can be. It’s truly one of a kind
